John,

My intention for product version is to capture the identifier associated
with a product release. A new instance of the algorithm/methodology applied
should result in a new instance of the product. So I believe your revised
definition works.

I'm fine with dropping software version in place of using history given the
explanations from Nan and Bob. We also might want to review our guidance
for history and source on the ACDD page.

I hope to make the ACDD call this week.
