Dear NHGIS User,

We are excited to announce that NHGIS has added 65 time series tables
<http://nhgis.us4.list-manage2.com/track/click?u=775cbf39c77535e784cdfd6f9&id=db713cefab&e=ccd0064665>
providing *2000 and 2010 U.S. census data standardized to 2010 census units*,
making it possible to measure demographic changes accurately even in areas
where boundaries changed between censuses.

The new tables are available for 10 levels of geography:

   - States
   - Counties
   - Census tracts
   - Block groups
   - County subdivisions
   - Places *(including incorporated cities and census-designated places)*
   - Congressional districts
   - Core based statistical areas *(including metropolitan and micropolitan
   statistical areas)*
   - Urban areas
   - ZIP Code Tabulation Areas (ZCTAs)

They cover a broad range of characteristics from the full-count,
short-form, decennial census, including population counts by: age, sex,
race, Hispanic or Latino origin, household and group quarters type,
household relationship, and household size. The tables also cover housing
counts by: occupancy and vacancy status, tenure, and race of householder.

NHGIS uses an advanced interpolation model
<http://nhgis.us4.list-manage.com/track/click?u=775cbf39c77535e784cdfd6f9&id=a24e925009&e=ccd0064665>
to produce high-quality 2000 estimates for 2010 census units. The tables
also include *lower and upper bounds* for each standardized estimate.

To find the new tables in the Data Finder
<http://nhgis.us4.list-manage.com/track/click?u=775cbf39c77535e784cdfd6f9&id=1761cf9c1d&e=ccd0064665>,
first apply a Geographic Levels filter for one of the levels listed above.
Then look under the Time Series Tables tab for tables that are
"Standardized to 2010."

If you have questions or suggestions about these tables or other NHGIS
features, please contact us at nhgis at umn.edu. We’d love to hear from you!

Sincerely,
The NHGIS Team
