Hi Matt - the air quality cluster added a lot of atmospheric chemistry
names to CF several years ago:
http://wiki.esipfed.org/index.php/CF_Standard_Names_-_CF_Standard_Names_-_Submitted_Atmospheric_Chemistry_and_Aerosol_Terms

In addition, if names need to be created Scott Peckham’s CSDMS cross-domain
naming conventions may be something else to look at.
