Lourdes Vera lavera at buffalo.edu
Fri May 19 16:01:55 EDT 2023

Hi all, an event came up and I’m not able to make the meeting this afternoon. Please let me know where I can hop in anywhere that is about community engagement or any research that needs to be done.

I have a lot more availability now that my semester has ended! I’ll be getting to the paper next Wednesday.

Best,
Lourdes

Hi all -
I am travelling again this month and will not make the regular meeting. But
Ruth and I have been working on the paper, and Ruth will run the call.

Agenda - progress on the paper (also in notes doc)
two main objectives:
1. organization and content of the "Recommendations for Repositories" section
2. writing/editing volunteers for the discussion section

The draft (link above) is slightly modified from Lourdes's outline, and we are incorporating/adapting text from that outline

Organization:
In particular, please look at the current organization of the "Recommendations for Repositories" section. When we last met, we had planned to organize around the CARE principles. We want to make sure it works well this way.

For each CARE section, there is a paragraph summarizing the CARE principle, then a paragraph generally describing how a repository would comply ("activities" summarized), then a list of the specific activities.

As of Wednesday, "C", "A" are drafted, and I have started on "R") In my opinion, the second paragraphs are still a bit sparse.

"Recommendations" content:
as written so far the recommendations are not very concrete and we don’t want to leave it entirely up to the imagination of repository managers to figure out.

Discussion section:
here, I think we have a fair amount of text already, written by Erin and Bob.
Please look at the discussion outline, and edit as needed. Think about what sections you want to write.

Other likely topics:
We had talked about putting some examples of CARE implementation into sidebars. Are these examples starting to gel?

Do we need an appendix? - e.g., a list of activities, with longer descriptions. and CARE mapping

Sorry to miss the meeting - actually not quite true -- I am in Paris, and on Friday, I will be at the Louvre!
Margaret
