Hi BESSIG!

We have a special event for our BESSIG meeting next Wednesday, marking 
two occasions.

The sad occasion is that we'll be saying good-bye to our hosts at the 
Outlook, Pat and Dan King, who have treated us well over this past year 
plus.  The sale of the Outlook will close in December.  We won't have a 
December meeting, so must say good-bye in November.  (We may still meet 
there in January under the new ownership, not sure yet.)  Please come 
and sign a thank you card to Pat and Dan.

On the happy side, at Wednesday's meeting Andrew Collette, from LASP, 
will speak on

"Improving Science with Open Formats and High-Level Languages: Python 
and HDF5"

Andrew has just published a book, _Python and HDF5: Unlocking Scientific 
Data_, and will be giving away 50 copies.  Free stuff!  And, the HDF 
Group is providing some refreshments for us.  Free food!  As we are 
expecting a larger crowd than usual, we'll be meeting in the Crown Rock 
room instead of our usual, the Chatauqua room.
