Hi Soren,
As a heads up, the annual VIVO Conference will be in Denver this August, so I hope you or others representing BESSIG’s interests are able to attend or even present. The call for papers should be coming out in a few weeks.

It would be great to have a strong Colorado research institutions presence at this event.
Disclaimer: I’m helping the conference with sponsorship and as their local contact.

Subject: [Bessig] bessig community tech demo for international data week?
Might be a nice idea to have a technical demo/session from BESSIG members in addition to the community discussion. Our smaller discussion about what kind of session would be valuable while in DC focused on demonstrating clear value to the researcher and not on whizbang technical widget. So what is the demonstrated value of the UNAVCO/EOL federated VIVO search? How has LASP's instance helped their researchers with their research goals? Likewise, what benefits do all of the efforts with ontology and vocabulary creation (UNAVCO, Beth Huffer, ClearEarth) bring to their research communities?
I have no horse in this race other than being firmly on Team Researcher Engagement. So I'd hate, as part of this community, see this opportunity missed. BESSIG would get visibility for community and for the impact of the work of that community. Thumbs' up?
Cheers,
Soren
