Subject: Next Week: Two CRDDS Events on Reproducible Research

As part of the Center for Research Data and Digital Scholarship’s inaugural “Year of Data”, we are hosting two events on reproducible research next week:

Workshop: Increasing Openness and Reproducibility in Quantitative Research
Tuesday, September 19, 1-4pm in CRDDS (Norlin Library E206)

Led by Jennifer Freeman Smith from the Center for Open Science (https://cos.io/), this workshop is aimed at faculty, staff, and students across disciplines who are engaged in quantitative research. The workshop does not require any specialized knowledge of programming. Participants will gain a foundation for incorporating reproducible, transparent practices into their current workflows. Overcoming Barriers to Reproducible Research: A Panel Discussion
Wednesday, September 20, 3-4:30pm in Norlin Library N410

A panel of experts will draw from a wide range of roles, experiences, and disciplinary perspectives to discuss significant barriers to reproducibility as well as possible solutions that could enable researchers to overcome these challenges. Panelists will include:

· Tobin Magle, Cyberinfrastructure Facilitator, Colorado State University

· Laura Michaelson, PhD Candidate, Psychology and Neuroscience, University of Colorado Boulder

· Eric Vance, Associate Professor, Applied Mathematics and Director, Laboratory for Interdisciplinary Statistical Analysis, University of Colorado Boulder
