Hello Agriculture and Climate Cluster (ACC):

Here's an update on recent developments that will impact upcoming ACC
events.

For the upcoming ESIP summer meeting, our cluster is partnering with the
Semantic Harmonization Cluster for a joint session titled "Identifying
technology capabilities that meet wildfire science and practitioner
requirements
<https://2021esipsummermeeting.sched.com/event/jMOK/identifying-technology-capabilities-that-meet-wildfire-science-and-practitioner-requirements>".
The session, which is slated for Wednesday, July 21, 11:00am - 1:30pm, will
focus on looking at how data and information generated during the active
firefighting phase can be repurposed/reused for the after-fire-containment
phase. Soil, weather, geography, vegetation, and infrastructure data and
information should ideally be reused across firefighting phases. The
after-fire-containment phase includes the issuance of a "Burned Area
Emergency Response (BAER: pronounced 'bear')" report. A collection of concept
maps outlining concepts related to the BAER report can be found in the ACC
wiki-space
<https://wiki.esipfed.org/Tracing_how_Landsat_data_is_used_to_inform_burnt_acreage_in_an_emergency_stabilization_Burned_Area_Emergency_Response_BAER_for_the_2012_High_Park_Fire_in_Colorado>
.

A recent presentation to a joint NASA/US Forest Service group
<https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1hzV_WiHBQ3dnlQyIOuU6Hmw3BamGk7L26Q8Q4KUQdOI/edit?usp=sharing>
briefly describes the idea behind the repurposing and reusing data and
information across different phases of the wildfire management lifecycle.
The presentation also includes a mock-up graph of a BAER report depicted
using Neo4j graph database notation.

Let Bill (william.l.teng at nasa.gov) and I (bwee at massiveconnections.com) know
if you have comments, either via email, in the ACC Slack channel, or at the
next scheduled ACC meeting on Tuesday June 1 @ 1500 hrs EASTERN.
