Hello Agriculture and Climate Cluster (ACC) and ACC friends:

Next Tuesday 2021-10-12 @ 1400 hrs *EASTERN*, Fire Chief Dave Winnacker
<https://www.mofd.org/our-district/district-overview/fire-chief>
(Moraga-Orinda Fire District, in the vicinity of the San Francisco Bay
area) and EnvironSensing Cluster
<https://wiki.esipfed.org/EnviroSensing_Cluster> co-chair Scotty Strachan
<https://www.unr.edu/geography/faculty/scotty-strachan> (Director of the
Nevada Climate-ecohydrological Assessment Network) will be respectively
presenting on (1) the evolving needs for fire decision-making and (2) the
role of observations and data management for science and decision-making.

Chief Winnacker's efforts to innovate the art and science of wildfire
decision-making has been noted by the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation
<https://www.moore.org/docs/default-source/default-document-library/2019-firs-workshop-report.pdf?sfvrsn=853e6f0c_2>.
The Foundation suggested that we tap Dave's thinking about
future directions. ESIP's expertise in data management for multi-sensor
observation platforms could play a role in a FAIR
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FAIR_data>-compliant future by accelerating
the use and re-use of wildfire relevant data and information for science
and decision-making.

We are aiming for a total of 30 minutes of presentations, with plenty of
time for discussion. Come join us! Please feel free to forward this
invitation. Connection details follow:
