Dear Federation Colleague:

Since March, the Federation's Executive Committee augmented by a group
representing our new members has been working to draft a Strategic Plan for
the ESIP Federation.  The strategic planning process is of vital importance
to the Federation because it will map out a course for your organization for
the next five years.  Because of this, the Executive Committee believes it
is time to share the work that it has done so far with you to get your
comments and recommendations.  The attached document is the result of much
discussion but it will not be complete until it meets the needs and
priorities of all of our members.  This is your chance to provide input.

We have arranged for a series of teleconferences for each ESIP Type and one
catch-all teleconference for those unable to make their ESIP Type call.  The
following outlines the schedule of calls:
Type I - July 15, 2004 at 2 pm (Eastern)
Type II - July 20, 2004 at 2 pm (Eastern)
Type III - July 22, 2004 at 2 pm (Eastern)
All - July 26, 2004 at 2 pm (Eastern)

I request that you dial only into the call for your ESIP Type so that your
ESIP Type's voice can be both individually and collectively heard.

These teleconferences will not be the last chance for you to give input into
the strategic plan.  There will be opportunities at the Summer Federation
meeting (August 16-18) to do so as well.  Our organization will be stronger
with your input and we look forward to hearing what you have to offer to
this process.
