Rant and Rave Presentation:

“The GEOSS Clearinghouse”

The GEOSS Clearinghouse is a common search facility for the 
Intergovernmental Group on Earth Observation (GEO). Through the harvest 
or distributed search of registered metadata catalogues, EO data, 
services, and related resources can be discovered and accessed. Based on 
the GeoNetwork open source project, the GEOSS Clearinghouse supports a 
variety of geospatial standards including CSW, Z39.50, and SRU for 
search, FGDC and ISO metadata, and WMS related OGC standards for data 
access and visualization, as linked from the metadata. We will present 
and demonstrate the clearinghouse and answer questions. The 
clearinghouse is developed through a collaboration between FGDC 
(www.fgdc.gov) and GMU’s Center for Intelligent Spatial Computing (CISC, 
cisc.gmu.edu).

The effort is led by Doug Nebert (FGDC) and Phil Yang (Co-Director of 
CISC). The development is conducted by Hannes Wu, Kai Liu, Zhenlong Li, 
Wenwen Li, Tim Miao. The project is supported by FGDC grant, ESIP 
Products & Services and Air Quality Committees, and NASA Geospatial 
Interoperability grant. The clearinghouse is operating at 
clearinghouse.cisc.gmu.edu.
