Job/Research Summary

The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), located at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Golden, Colorado, is the nation's primary laboratory for research, development, and deployment of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies. The Digital Assets Team has an immediate opening for a full-time Postdoctoral Researcher in Energy Informatics, with an emphasis in the semanticorganization of linked energy information for curation, analysis, and knowledge discovery.

The initial appointment is for one year, with possible renewal for up to three years.

The successful candidate will perform independent and team research on the integration of semantic web and digital curation technologies and participate in work with NREL researchers to link the world’s energy data. The candidate will assist NREL researchers in the large-scale application of these technologies including automated systems to support curation, community content contributions and quality improvement.Required Education and ExperienceMust be a recent PhD graduate within the last three years.

Preferred Qualifications

A recent Ph.D. degree (within the past three years) in information science, library science, computer
science, applied mathematics, or a closely related field. Strong analytical skills and programming
experience, as well as the ability and desire to learn new concepts and technologies. A strong background in semantic web technologies, linked open data, ontologies, wiki communities, data quality, data curation, experience with energy data, analytic tools, knowledge in energy technologies and information. Models and knowledge discovery is also desired.
