ADNET Systems, Inc., based in Rockville, MD, brings over 20 years of
experience to information systems and professional services for the federal
government. With a history of expertise in software development, computer
network design, IT security, mission operations support, and educational
outreach, ADNET has now expanded into Space and Earth Science at NASA
Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) in Greenbelt, MD. ADNET is working with
Goddard Space Flight Center to fulfill NASA¹s vision for space exploration
and work with the Science and Exploration Directorate to fulfill its many

Currently, ADNET Systems, Inc. and its SESDA II team members have the
following positions available:
 
 
GD050 Atmospheric Aerosol Scientist
This position is for an atmospheric aerosol scientist to work on several
projects related to Satellite Remote Sensing of Atmospheric Aerosols,
Composition, and Transport. This position will require familiarity with
remote sensing sensors and initiatives, such as Aura, MODIS, MERIS, MISR,
etc or field campaigns like Aeronet. Previous experience with
Aerosol-related retrievals and data from satellite and field missions will
be considered as a substantial plus.  Ground observation and modeling of
atmospheric dynamics, and chemistry, or modeling using satellite remote
sensing data are also pluses. We seek a highly motivated individual with
typically 5 years of scientific analysis, algorithm and software development
experience and specific familiarity with data structures, formats, and
products for remote sensing applications.
 
The atmospheric scientist is expected to solve complex problems with little
or no oversight and have the ability or potential to proactively engage the
science community to seek new partnerships and opportunities, respond
effectively to science data user questions on technical and scientific
issues, provide technical and scientific support in enhancing and extending
data and information services. As such, excellent communication skills
(written and oral) are a must. The candidate will also have demonstrated
capability and interest to learn and apply new technologies to tasks at hand
and commensurate familiarity with common data formats, data analysis tools,
and relevant programming languages (HDF/HDF-EOS, netCDF, IDL, Python, Perl,
C/C++, FORTRAN).
 
Requirements:
* Ph.D in physical, Earth, or Computer Sciences, with 2+ years experience of
hands on processing on atmospheric (AIRS) data; or M.S.  5+ years
experience; or BS with 7 years experience
* Commensurate familiarity with common data formats, data analysis tools,
and one or more programming languages (HDF/HDF-EOS, netCDF, IDL, Python,
Perl, C/C++, FORTRAN)
*  Development in Linux/Unix environments
*  Excellent written, oral communication skills and interpersonal skills in
working with internal and external customers
* US Citizenship or Permanent Residence
Desired:
* Experience in a civilian government contracting environment
* Experience in using XML related technologies
* Track record of scientific publications, presentations and interest in
pursuing proposals and grants for additional funding support
 
 
 
 
GD051 Software Engineer
The NASA Goddard Earth Science Data Information and Services Center (GES
DISC) is seeking a software engineer to develop web applications to provide
data services that enable users to retrieve, search and analyze vast data
storage online. The Software Engineer position will:
     Help design and implement multi-tier distributed web applications for
search and analysis of Earth Science data
     Help design and implement interactive online data visualization system
for collaborative analysis of Earth Science data
     Work with customers to capture requirements and identify feature sets
     Work with Software and User Interface Developers to develop innovative
solutions with respect to functionality, performance, reliability and
scalability
 
Requirements:
* BS in Computer Science or related areas, MS desired
* 5 to 10 years experience in developing in Linux or UNIX environment
* Demonstrated experience (3-5 years) in object-oriented design and
application development in Java and J2EE technologies including Java
Servlets, Web Services
* Strong knowledge in test driven development
* Strong knowledge of application security
* Understanding of agile methods for software development
* Familiarity with software project build/packaging tools such as Maven and
RPM 
* Excellent communication skills
* US Citizenship or Permanent Residence
 
Desired:
* Strong knowledge of XML processing (DOM, SAX, XPATH, XSLT)
* Experience in leading software development teams with hands-on experience
in all phases of software development cycle especially in project
integration

GD052 Earth & Atmospheric Scientist
This position requires a highly motivated and energetic individual with
educational or work experience in Earth or environmental sciences
(Atmospheric, Remote Sensing, Air Quality and Chemistry, Climate Modeling,
atmospheric carbon cycle interactions, aerosols, dust etc.). The candidate
shall possess excellent programming skills with the ability to multi-task on
several ongoing smaller projects simultaneously or be able to independently
lead small science projects. The ideal candidate would be a Ph.D. or post
doc with some publication history, relevant experience in the field, and at
least 5-10 years of scientific software development experience in Remote
Sensing, Earth sciences or atmospheric sciences data processing.   The
candidate must have the ability to solve complex problems on his/her own
with little oversight, be an independent thinker, creative and have the
ability to develop the vision for or to anticipate next courses of action.
He or she must be able work under schedule constraints.
 
The successful candidate will join a fast paced development environment and
participate in the development of NASA¹s Atmospheric Chemistry portal at
GSFC (http://disc.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/acdisc), and efforts to expand this
portal with new data from ACOS, OCO-2, or existing systems like TOMS, UARS,
MODIS, AIRS, and OMI. Another area of involvement will be to support the
Giovanni data visualization system (http://giovanni.gsfc.nasa.gov/) or
related activities at the Goddard Earth Sciences- Data and Information
Services Center (GES-DISC: http://disc.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/).
 
Requirements:
* M.S. in Computer or Physical Sciences (Atmospheric, Remote Sensing,
Geophysics/Chemistry,  Physics or related) with 7+ years commensurate
experience in related scientific software development
* Programming experiences in  Fortran, C, IDL, GrADS, Perl
* Experience with HDF and other remote sensing data format

skills working with internal and external customers
* Self motivated individual with experience leading small projects
* USA Permanent Resident or USA Citizen

GD053 Scientific Programmer
This position requires a highly motivated individual with at least 5 years
of software development experience in Remote Sensing, Earth sciences or
atmospheric science programming and application development.  The applicant
should have knowledge of lifecycle software development including
requirements analysis, design, prototyping, coding, unit testing,
integration, and test and the ability to solve complex problems on his/her
own without constant oversight.  Experience in Earth Sciences (especially
atmospheric science) and remote sensing algorithm development and ability to
convert these algorithms to code prototypes for further development in a
fast paced environment is highly desirable.
 
The successful candidate will participate in the development of NASA¹s
Giovanni system (http://giovanni.gsfc.nasa.gov/) at the Goddard Earth
Sciences- Data and Information Services Center (GES-DISC:
http://disc.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/). Giovanni is a Web-based application that
provides a simple and intuitive way to visualize, analyze, and access vast
amounts of Earth science remote sensing data.

GD055 Data Systems Integration Engineer
This position is for a motivated and capable engineer to provide support for
the Goddard Earth Sciences Data and Information Services Center (GES-DISC).
The candidate will function as the primary point of contact for the design,
implementation and maintenance of Earth Science data archive and
distribution system consisting of data from remote sensing satellites and
climate modeling. The candidate will work with scientists, systems
administrators and web portal designers. Understanding of operational
scientific data archive and distribution systems, user support, data
services for researchers and other customers interested in obtaining the
discipline specific data is crucial.  This support may include heritage
satellites or new NASA missions (Glory, GPM, UARS, TOMS, MODIS, AIRS for
example).
 
Experience with applications or developing scripts to automate the
processing of science data using EOS-HDF, NetCDF, BUFR, and GRiB formats and
tools is necessary.  For more information with the activities of our Data

Requirements:
* BS (from an accredited college or university) physical science or computer
sciences, MS preferred

GD056 Java, C/C++ Programmer
We seek a full-time, motivated and self-starting programmer to develop,
implement, and test the Input/Output ToolKit (TK/IO) software for the
Precipitation Processing System group at NASA GSFC.  The TK/IO toolkit is a
configuration file based Java application that interfaces to other
applications developed in C with Fortran wrapper software to process data in
native HDF4 or HDF5 formats.
 
The candidate must have excellent communication skills to interact with
project staff which may include Analysts, Precipitation Scientists, other
projects programmers, and engineers. The position may include direct
interaction with customers or end users.  Solutions are implemented on
platforms including Unix or Linux based servers.  Experience with
applications or developing scripts to automate the processing of science
data using EOS-HDF, NetCDF formats and tools is essential.
 
Requirements:
* BS in Computer Science, Remote Sensing, physics or related physical
sciences, MS preferred
* Experience with HDF native formats, libraries, and tools for processing
data in HDF or NetCDF

GD057 Geo-Location Programmer
We seek a full-time, motivated and self-starting individual to develop,
implement, and test geo-location software for the Precipitation Processing
System group at NASA GSFC. This Programmer will apply his/her knowledge of
mathematics, geometry and orbital physics to design and develop complex
geolocation software in support of the Global Precipitation Measurement
(GPM) Mission. The candidate must have excellent communication skills to
interact with project staff which may include Geolocation Analysts,
Precipitation Scientists, other projects programmers, and engineers. The
position may include direct interaction with customers or end users.
Applicable background includes GPS or other navigation systems, mathematical
techniques such as non-linear optimization and correlations; and positioning
algorithms for geolocation. Past experience with operational flight dynamics
systems is a plus. 
 
Solutions are implemented on platforms including Unix and Linux based
servers.  
 
Requirements:
* BS in Applied Math, Remote Sensing, or physics, MS preferred
* Understanding of GPS fundamentals, flight and orbital dynamics
* Demonstrated capability in scientific programming, especially C/C++ (5-10
