Hi All -

A few notes from around the data science community this week:

1. Brian Wee posted last night about the *Strata NY Conference being
streamed live*<http://strataconf.com/stratany2011/public/content/video?imm_mid=07482e&cmp=em-conf-st11-strata-ny-livestream>.
A quick look through the agenda, shows that there are lots of talks this
week that may be of interest such as Data Science and Building Data
Teams<http://strataconf.com/jumpstart2011/public/schedule/detail/20977>,
this afternoon and Aneesh Chopra is talking tomorrow afternoon on Government
and Big Data <http://strataconf.com/summit2011/public/schedule/detail/22185>
.

2. Peter Fox shared the NSF EarthCube Ning site <http://earthcube.ning.com/>.
The goal of EarthCube is to transform the conduct of research in geosciences
by supporting the development of community-guided cyberinfrastructure to
integrate data and information for knowledge management across the
Geosciences. Some interesting discussions have been started in the
groups<http://earthcube.ning.com/groups>,
like threads on Data Lifecycle Management as a
Service<http://earthcube.ning.com/group/earthcube-design-approaches/forum/topics/research-data-lifecycle-management-as-a-service>and
 Data
Interactive Publications<http://earthcube.ning.com/group/user-requirements/forum/topics/data-interactive-publications>(by
ESIP member, Ben Domenico, Unidata).
