Greetings, fellow ESIP members!

I am sending this message out to inform the members of ESIP about a new cluster that has formed and will be kicking off participation with its first telecon to be scheduled within the week of January 23-27 (details to be sent by the end of this week).

Some of you were not able to attend the Winter ESIP Meeting in Washington, DC last week. We had a session on "Applying GIS for Integrated Discovery, Access, and Analysis" from 2:00-3:30pm on Wednesday, January 4th that included demos/presentations from Northrup Grumman, NASA JPL, and NASA GSFC. We also had a session on "Geoportal Server: Open Source Software for Data Discovery and More". Some of you may have attended the Winter Meeting but were unable to be in the GIS sessions due to parallel conflicting sessions.

This is your chance to let us know that you are interested in actively participating within the Geospatial cluster (renamed from GIS). We are calling it the Geospatial cluster to emphasize a focus on geospatial information - using GIS tools and technologies along with geospatial standards and systems to better leverage the use of remote sensing data throughout our community.

We are in the process of creating a new mailing list and will get that information out this week. I have updated the information for the telecon on the ESIP Geospatial cluster page:

If you are interested in participating with the Geospatial cluster, please send me an email and I will ensure that your information is included for the new mailing list.

Sincerely,

Ross E. Bagwell
