May be of interest to some ESIP folks:

(1) NSF solicitation - data intensive science - social sciences

NSF just announced a solicitation "Building Community and Capacity for Data-Intensive Research in the Social, Behavioral, and Economic Sciences and in Education and Human Resources (BCC-SBE/EHR)" (http://goo.gl/AWtmX)<http://goo.gl/AWtmX),>. Synopsis: As part of NSF's Cyberinfrastructure Framework for 21st Century Science and Engineering (CIF21) activity, the Directorate for Social, Behavioral, and Economic Sciences (SBE), the Directorate for Education and Human Resources (EHR), and the Office of Cyberinfrastructure seek to enable research communities to develop visions, teams, and capabilities dedicated to creating new, large-scale, next-generation data resources and relevant analytic techniques to advance fundamental research for the SBE and EHR sciences. Successful proposals will outline activities that will have significant impacts across multiple fields by enabling new types of data-intensive research.

(2) Learning registry webinar

I have received an invitation to extend this invitation to all ESIP members: there is an introductory webinar on "The Learning Registry" (http://www.learningregistry.org/), which is "...is a new approach to capturing, sharing, and analyzing learning resource data to broaden the usefulness of digital content to benefit educators and learners." The State Educational Technology Directors Association (SETDA) normally restricts these webinars to state and federal agencies, but ESIP folks are welcomed for this particular informational webinar.
