I am sorry to be so late in acknowledging Rob's passing from this world. I do so with a heavy heart. I have been stunned since hearing the news in its finality, tho we lately knew it would come.

Rob was instrumental in building the loving community that now mourns him. He was an early and essential member in a concerted effort that has taken decades, binding us across our disciplines. We have become a family as times like this teach us. Rob, you will be remembered.

I send my sincere condolences and best wishes to Rob's loving sister Lisa. We will support you during this time of loss.

And my sincere thanks to Ed and all the JPL folks who looked in on Rob to warm and comfort him, and to keep us well informed. Thank you

Subject: [ESIP-all] RIP Rob Raskin, 1957-2012

HI folks,

Its me again. With some unfortunate news ......

Rob passed away at around 8 pm Pacific Time. I was not there but his sister and a few friends were nearby. He passed on peacefully with little or no suffering.

Lisa wants everyone to know she really appreciates their heartfelt support, prayers and thoughts. The get well cards some of you signed were read to Rob in the last 24 hours as were other messages such as emails and FB posts over the last days. We really really appreciate the support.

I will be offline over the weekend. I will send another update Monday sometime.

Rest easy tonight, Rob. You will be missed. Peace and blessings.

regards,

-ed
