Greetings All:

Since you have an extra 24 hours to come up with an abstract, please consider submitting to IN015. I am co-convening this session with my RENCI colleague, Ray Idaszak. This session is meant, in part, to continue the dialog started at the ESIP summer meeting related to science software best practices.

IN015. Enabling Better Science Through Improving Science Software Development Culture

Scientists, in many instances, must design and build the databases, scripts, code, and related software tools from scratch to enable their research. These tools while often sophisticated are usually done in a just in time or hero code fashion. The tools function long enough to complete the assigned task and quickly break. This session will examine ways to overcome these challenges to enable better research through joint dialogs with the cyberinfrastructure community. The goal is to improve the software development culture within domain science in order to produce sustainable code with transformative results.

Best,

Chris
