Hello ESIP --

The ESDIS Standards Office (ESO) is conducting a review of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) Keyhole Markup Language (KML) Encoding Standard as a candidate NASA Earth Science Data Systems (ESDS) community standard. KML was developed to manage the display of geospatial data in Google Earth. OGC endorsed the KML version 2.2 in 2008. The ESDIS Standards Office is conducting a review of KML for suitability for use within NASA Earth science data systems with NASA Earth Observation data.

If you have experience with KML, as a user or data producer or tool developer, we would appreciate your answering the attached review questions.
Because KML has already been endorsed by OGC, our review questions are focused on the suitability for use and operational readiness of KML for NASA ESDS.
The attached file contains links to the document and also the review questions.
Please answer as many of the review questions as you can and send your responses by Dec 20th to eso-staff at lists.nasa.gov<mailto:eso-staff at lists.nasa.gov>.
