Subject: FYI: Data Stewardship town hall at AGU 12/9 at 6:15pm

Hello Everyone,

Next week at the fall AGU meeting in San Francisco, we are hosting an the ESIP-sponsored town hall, "Connecting Data Stakeholders for a Long-term Vision of Data Stewardship". The town hall will take place Monday, Dec. 10, 2013, from 6:15-7:15pm in 306 Moscone South.

Description of the session:
Data stewardship is a concern to all. Many efforts seek to improve stewardship, yet lack a unifying long-term vision. This ESIP-led Townhall will gather players from all AGU disciplines to create connections in data management practice. Panelists will discuss use cases on stewardship and the importance of coordination into a NAS Data Decadal Survey. The outcomes will inform the vision and priorities at the highest level.

List of panelists: Kerstin Lehnert, Chris Lehnhardt, Sky Bristol, Mark Parsons, and Karl Benedict

Following brief presentations from the panelists, we'll have about 20 minutes of audience participation and questions, with one of the conveners then presenting a summary of the discussion and how we envision a path forward.

I hope you are able to join us. Additionally, I am presenting a poster Friday afternoon (1:40 PM - 6:00 PM; Hall A-C Moscone South), titled: "ESIP's Emerging Provenance and Context Content Standard Use Cases: Developing Examples and Models for Data Stewardship". Please stop by if you are still around!

Thanks,
Sarah
