The National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC), http://nsidc.org, part of the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES) at the University of Colorado at Boulder, is hiring a manager for its NASA Distributed Active Archive (DAAC) program.

The NASA DAAC at NSIDC supports scientific research. We make NASA satellite and related data on Earth’s frozen regions available to researchers around the world, along with services, tools, and data processing that make researchers more effective and productive. We work closely with our scientific communities and enjoy a front-row seat on groundbreaking research.

The DAAC manager orchestrates a team of ~40 people in technical, scientific, and operational roles, with the help of a deputy manager and NSIDC line management. It is an evolving, challenging adventure. We want to hear from you if: You are a very experienced leader, project manager, and relationship manager with excellent communication skills and flexibility. You enjoy working with a variety of people and roles: Earth scientists, data scientists, software developers, customer and operations support professionals, NASA stakeholders and officials. You have solid experience supporting federal science programs, and know science and data management, as well as having a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
