The Open Data movement has dramatically altered the flow of research
findings for those involved in creating, managing or using scientific
data. Whether you work within a government agency, library, scholarly
society, academic institution or the commercial sector, the expectations,
roles and responsibilities for data integrity are rapidly changing. Join
CENDI and NFAIS on Thursday, November 20, 2014 as we explore the technical,
financial, political, and social/cultural forces that must be considered
for ensuring the quality and integrity of scientific data.

We are happy to announce that *Dr. Marcia McNutt, Editor-in-Chief of
Science Magazine* and Former Director of the USGS, is the keynote speaker
and will lay out the current landscape of data quality and integrity.
Throughout the day, expert speakers will address the wide world of data
quality from policies and laws that impact data quality to data creators,
funders, and managers to the publishing, aggregating, and archiving
communities. The day will close with a discussion on what was “heard” as
well as to summarize the challenges, identify gaps in ensuring quality and
integrity, and suggest the next steps to make the whole life cycle more
robust.
