Dear Colleagues,

Please consider submitting abstracts to the following Fall AGU session, chaired by Danie Kinkade of WHOI and me. We’d love to hear how you are using partnerships to meet your missions in the Big Data space. NASA DAACs, EarthCube Council of Data Facilities, DataONEs and NSF DataNets, ESIP Type I’s and their partners… this means YOU! And all those partners out there working with these and other data facilities, this means YOU TOO!

Thanks!
- Ken and Danie

IN039. Partnerships and Big Data Facilities in a Big Data World
Earth and space science data facilities, defined loosely as organizations whose primary mission includes the receipt and dissemination of digital data, have begun working together to meet Big Data challenges of volume, velocity, veracity, and variety. Through sharing of experience and solutions, these organizations are rising to the Big Data challenges and enabling new applications, science, and decision-support systems. Partnerships across governmental, academic, and commercial domains are proving critical to these Big Data success stories in the earth and space sciences. This session solicits abstract submissions from Earth and space science data facilities on how they have incorporated these partnerships to meet their mission requirements, from public and private sector partners on their experiences with Big Data facilities, and from the entire community on their thoughts and recommendations on how to effectively partner across organizational boundaries to ensure the utility of Big Data digital assets for current and future generations
