Dear colleagues,

We cordially invite you to submit an abstract to the AGU-ESSI session IN045:
Semantics for the Discovery, Access, and Integration of Geoscience Data.

IN045: Semantics for the Discovery, Access, and Integration of Geoscience
Data

Session Webpage:

Submission begins here: Submit an Abstract to this Session

Session Description:

Semantic technologies, by adding machine readable meanings to data, raise
the functionality of existing data platforms to a new level and create
possibilities for more efficient interactions between users and data
sources, as well as among data sources. Various semantics-relevant community
efforts and standards, such as ESIP, Research Data Alliance, EarthCube,
CODATA, schema.org, DataCite, and DCAT, to name a few, promote the
discovery, access and integration of scientific data. Geoscience, a domain
with abundant sources, types, and formats of data, has made significant
progress in deploying semantic technologies in recent years. The session
welcomes all works relevant to semantics, including and not limited to
vocabulary building, ontology engineering, data archival and publication,
and multi-source data integration.

Conveners:

Xiaogang Ma, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute

Tom Narock, Marymount University

Robert A Arko, Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory

Steve Hughes, NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory

Kindly note that the deadline for 2015 Fall AGU meeting submissions is
Wednesday, August 5th. Feel free to email me questions about the session.
Thanks a lot.

Kindest regards,

Marshall
