Dear Colleagues from the ESIP Community,

As many of the WDS Member organizations are also part of the ESIP
Community, you might find the announcement below of interest:

The World Data System (WDS) of the International Council for Science—the
leading international and multidisciplinary organization in the provision
of trusted data services—has *adopted a new set of Data Sharing Principles
<https://www.icsu-wds.org/services/data-sharing-principles>* to advance its
goals and to embody the spirit of ‘open science’ meant to unite diverse
communities of data producers and data users.

These Principles are in line with data policies of national and
international initiatives and they express the core ethical commitments
that are operationalized in the WDS Certification and with which existing
organizational policies of WDS Members are expected to be aligned.

The WDS Scientific Committee (WDS-SC) developed the first draft of the
Principles and initiated a full consultation with its Member Organizations.
We would like to acknowledge and thank WDS Members for the overwhelming
support and positive feedback received on the draft version. The WDS-SC
incorporated their valuable contributions and has published the final
version on the WDS website.

A Press Release was circulated today to announce the adoption of the new
WDS Data Sharing Principles. The PDF file can be downloaded on our website

With very best wishes.
