Hi everyone,

BCO-DMO (bco-dmo.org), an NSF-funded data management office located at 
Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (whoi.edu; Woods Hole, MA), is 
looking to hire a Data Manager as an Information Systems Associate I/II 
to join our team.  This is a regular full-time position and is eligible 
for benefits.

*JOB SUMMARY:*
With little supervision, and within a team environment, this individual 
will:
     Help investigators organize and submit metadata and data for 
inclusion in the Biological and Chemical Oceanography Data Management 
Office (BCO-DMO) data management system
     Ensure that the metadata and related information are complete; 
perform basic quality control on the submitted data
     Archive data to the appropriate national data archive office
     Provide assistance to researchers and others in gaining access to 
the data and information made accessible by BCO-DMO

*PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION DESIRED:*
     Master's degree in oceanography or related field, or Bachelor's 
degree in oceanography or related field plus several years of experience
     Training or experience in oceanographic data including geochemical, 
biological, and physical oceanography and environmental sciences 
preferred.  Programming experience (PHP, Perl, R or other scripting 
languages) desirable.  Experience using spreadsheet applications (e.g. 
Excel, OpenOffice), MATLAB programming, content management system 
(Drupal), and relational database systems (e.g. MySQL) highly desirable.
     Good communication skills; good computer skills in Linux and PC or 
Macintosh environment; knowledgeable about oceanographic data including 
geochemical, biological and physical oceanography; detail oriented; 
well-organized; programming experience desirable. Experience using 
spread sheet applications, MATLAB programming, content management system 
(DRUPAL), and relational database systems highly desirable.
