Hello ESIP Friends,
Calling your attention today to the Research as Art opportunity. We've received some excellent submissions already. And the time is right for you who've been thinking about submitting but haven't, to join in.

What is Research as Art? It is an opportunity to try out new or different ways to communicate your research. You can use visualizations, multi-media resources, sensory engagement, immersive experiences or anything else that would help others explore your research outputs. We will be exhibiting Research as Art on the evening of Wednesday, July 26 at the ESIP Summer Meeting<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__www.esipfed.org_meetings_upcoming-2Dmeetings_esip-2Dsummer-2Dmeeting-2D2017&d=DwIFAg&c=n6-cguzQvX_tUIrZOS_4Og&r=z_UkiNdaPPnn6f_5YCcwk8pcqAmUKyJq-jppGhCSDi8&m=L8X74wwcD5uRvCohGes3bs0S1BXjGF4wF39Qx-1G2tQ&s=xi3ahrGjAULhDLKiHfbQwLYPdhY4nmRmauRBMQW7KWc&e= >.

How to participate? Submit your idea through the Call for Entries<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__www.surveygizmo.com_s3_3437142_7c8e0ed07b4f&d=DwIFAg&c=n6-cguzQvX_tUIrZOS_4Og&r=z_UkiNdaPPnn6f_5YCcwk8pcqAmUKyJq-jppGhCSDi8&m=L8X74wwcD5uRvCohGes3bs0S1BXjGF4wF39Qx-1G2tQ&s=t7ioDZw1gxdsekhaVoFjFsXvGBOdMYc9g7hJ3B8qFOY&e= >, and we'll follow-up soon with more logistics and details. If you want to participate but are not sure how, please let Bruce Caron and I know - we are happy to brainstorm with you. You can also brainstorm on the Research as Art ESIP slack channel<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__esip-2Dall.slack.com_archives_C4LDC9EG4&d=DwIFAg&c=n6-cguzQvX_tUIrZOS_4Og&r=z_UkiNdaPPnn6f_5YCcwk8pcqAmUKyJq-jppGhCSDi8&m=L8X74wwcD5uRvCohGes3bs0S1BXjGF4wF39Qx-1G2tQ&s=mHAv7VR0fHRHDB1Lr9jeJKQJgA81l6rN9tWW1LjxoV4&e= >.

This event has no competition aspect, and the 'winners' are the whole community who get to understand your work in a new way. Do not fear taking a risk with this - at last year's event, we saw exhibits ranging from striking global datasets printed as frame-able artwork, to immersive VR/AR data exploration, to interactive data QA/QC, to a yarn-knit rendering of the earth, and many more. All successful, and memorable because of the 'different' kind of interaction they inspired.

We hope you will consider submitting for this fun and special event.

Truly,

Christine White
