I would like to share an opportunity at PO.DAAC with the community:

The Physical Oceanography Distributed Active Archive Center (PO.DAAC) seeks a lead data engineer whose technical skills and interests are focused on data management, documentation, and data curation approaches applied to remote sensing and Earth science data systems. Applicants should have experience in data management, particularly in evaluation and integration of heterogeneous oceanographic data. Applicants must have experience in Earth science metadata standards, scientific data formats such as HDF and netCDF, remote sensing, GIS, and data documentation experience. Will be a member of the Science Data System Operations Engineering Group (398N) and will report to the Technical Group Supervisor. The candidate will:

  *   Lead the PO.DAAC Data publication team and have cognizance over the full data lifecycle implementation for all datasets archived at PO.DAAC
  *   Be responsible for continuous optimization of the dataset lifecycle policy, publication workflow and product preservation/retirement
  *   Be responsible for the execution of day-to-day publication activities and report to the Operations Lead
  *   Be responsible for planning and execution of key milestones and deliverables for the publication team
  *   Be responsible for generating, tracking, validating, and closing out publication tasks entered into the project JIRA tracking system
  *   Work with the PO.DAAC operations team and data providers to track and move datasets through the various stages of data publication.
  *   Support the Development of scripts and approaches for efficient and high-quality QA/QC of datasets ingested into the archive. Create value added data
  *   Provide feedback to team members to enhance user experience and usability of the datasets, including documentation.
  *   Develop and support the preparation of scripts, tutorials, and workshops to enhance the use of PO.DAAC services and datasets.
  *   Provide scientific and technical support for remote sensing data distribution tools and services.
