<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">FAIROS proposals must select one of two tracks, either: 1) <b>Disciplinary Improvements </b>to targeted scientific communities, or 2) <b>Cross-Cutting Improvements</b> that apply to many or
most scientific disciplines.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><b><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">For the research communities served by the Directorate for Geosciences (GEO)</span></b><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">: Proposals are encouraged toward establishing foundational
principles for Research Data Management (RDM) in support of scientific domains associated with GEO programs (<a href="https://www.nsf.gov/funding/programs.jsp?org=GEO" target="_blank">https://www.nsf.gov/funding/programs.jsp?org=GEO</a>). This includes efforts
that translate open science principles (e.g., FAIR, CARE, TRUST) into practical guidelines and/or standards for RDM within geoscience research workflows. GEO particularly welcomes proposals that support RDM across the full data lifecycle, including advancement
of approaches that leverage persistent identifiers (PIDs) to expose connections among publications, data, and other research products to assess impact and broaden credit for research contributions. Proposers primarily pursuing community-building, education/training,
or culture change activities to instill open science practices within specific geoscience domains may wish to instead consider submissions to the Geosciences Open Science Ecosystem (GEO OSE) program (NSF 25-506). <o:p></o:p></span></p>
