Dear All,

Thank you for those who participated in our first Disaster cluster teleon. Many thanks to Erin for her support and posting the notes which can be found on the telecon page: http://wiki.esipfed.org/index.php/DisasterResponse_telecon_2014-02-18
Please let us know if you have any changes/additions.

Our next telecon will be held on Tuesday March 18 at 10 am PT / 1 pm ET.
You will find the agenda and call in information at: http://wiki.esipfed.org/index.php/DisasterResponse_telecon_2014-03-18<http://wiki.esipfed.org/index.php/DisasterResponse_telecon_2014-02-18>
Based on our first telecon discussion, we have started a google doc (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Av2czh6FTo34dEdDWEtZZkxRZVFGNDJXNFlqS1RqWXc#gid=0) to help us identify Disaster/Hazard types, life cycle phases, organizations doing similar work, examples of earth data that maps to disasters and emergency support functions. Please take a look, and provide your inputs by editing the worksheets directly prior to March 18.
The key topic of our next telecon is to scope our objectives and near activities, therefore we'd like to focus on disaster types and phase initally. In preparation for the discussions, please give some thoughts to questions such as:

  1. Which disaster types (select 1-3) are most interesting and/or critical (in need) that the group should address? And why?
  2. Should the entire lifecycle be considered for that particular disaster?
  3. If no, what phase(s) will be most valuable? And why?

Once we decide the scope, then we can discuss activities to concentrate on such as mapping of data, tools, stakeholders, needs, etc.

Thank you and we look forward to our next discussion,
Emily & Karen
