Subject: Fwd: IT&I Rant and Rave: Emerging Earth Science Technologies in Disaster Management
Hello Emily, Karen,
In this week's ESIP Info. Tech. & Interoperability "Rant and Rave" teleconference (Thursday, 3-4pm EDT), I will discuss Emerging Earth Science Technologies in Disaster Management, using the CEOS / GEOSS Architecture for Disaster Management ("GA.4.D") as a framework.
This discussion may be of interest to the Disasters Cluster -- and would benefit from the domain expertise represented there... See call-in details below.

All,
Here is the info for this month's IT & I Rant and Rave presented by
John Evans from Global Science Technologies, INC.
When: Thursday, April 3rd, 3:00 EDT
Mesonets, CubeSats, and Drones, Oh My! Emerging Earth Science
Technologies in Disaster Management
==================
Abstract:
====================
Geospatial analysis and decision-making, particularly for disaster
management, may benefit from alternative data sources that are rapidly
entering the mainstream -- from handheld sensors to linked regional
mesonets, drones, and cubeSats. One challenge is to articulate a clear
understanding of how these can support current processes, and to
envision new practices that these technologies may enable. I'll
discuss (*) how the new CEOS / GEOSS architecture for Remote Sensing
in Disaster Management is providing a framework for positioning these
technologies in the disaster management lifecycle.
