*SEMINAR:*

After Hurricane Harvey, FEMA requested that Dr. Liu work on a mission
assignment at the National Response Coordination Center to help
operationalize crowdsourcing, coordinate with digital volunteers, and
organize a hackathon at FEMA Headquarters. In this seminar, Dr. Liu will
summarize how crowdsourcing was operationalized in response to Hurricane
Maria to enhance situational awareness and decision-making for emergency
management. Future efforts include organizing a FEMA hackathon in Texas and
conducting a pilot project to develop a playbook that standardizes the data
and tools for emergency management.
