Let's extend the voting period for a week since this is the first time around doing this. And we need to reach out to more people. We'll shoot for tallying up the votes next Monday.

In the mean time, we can start looking as a community at formulating additional needed Discovery specifications. Sean Mccleese has a got one on Datacasting custom elements.

We also have a few incubation ideas here:

Please feel free to add to the list!

Voting is now open for DCP-1: ESIP Discovery Cast Atom Response Format v1.1

Results will be tallied on Monday.

At our latest telecon (http://wiki.esipfed.org/index.php/Discovery_Telecon_2011-03-08), we discussed final changes to the spec, updated the spec, and decided on a mechanism of voting. We said we needed a stronger 3/5 majority of Yays to Nays, and that the editors can veto. Most agreed that it is better not to do voting anonymously since we really want to hash out any concerns.

The review period is concluding for the Discovery Change Proposal (DCP)-1 for "an ESIP Discovery Cast Atom Response Format v1.1".

I've updated the format v1.1 spec based on feedback from the responses so far:
http://wiki.esipfed.org/index.php/Discovery_Cast_Atom_Response_Format_v1.1 <http://wiki.esipfed.org/index.php/Discovery_Cast_Atom_Response_Format_v1.1>

Changes include:

 * adopting IANA rel link conventions
 * expanding ESIP-specific rel link types to include namespace
 *   settling on a namespace.

Since we have our next Discovery Cluster telecon next Tuesday (2011-03-08) <x-apple-data-detectors://1> , that might be a good opportunity to have a final round of verbal discussions before we vote on the spec. Until then, we should review the revised spec.

Nothing was discussed for the custom tag extensions approach. What about ECHO adopting GeoRSS-Simple for adding support of points and lines? Are we ok with those?

Much of the Discovery Cluster will be dealing with forming community-based

The initial Discovery Change Proposal (DCP)-1 for an ESIP Discovery Cast
Atom Response Format v1.1 is posted:
http://wiki.esipfed.org/index.php/Discovery_Change_Proposal-1

The format has roots from discussions originating from our ESDSWG New
Orleans meeting last October. But we still need your feedback. Some open
questions include:

(1) what namespace to adopt? discovery, esipdiscovery, ...
(2) adopt some of the new OGC rel link types? See Chris' forwarded email.
(3) use the "opensearch" namespace spec for pagination?
...

This format will be under review for comments and revisions until March 1.
We then plan on voting for approval as a spec. This will be our first
exercise of the governance process.

Adding additional changes or new proposals are documented here:
http://wiki.esipfed.org/index.php/Discovery_Governance
