I submitted this session proposal. We can still make some changes; in particular, I would like to sign someone else up as a co-organizer.  And we should recruit speakers from other clusters such as Semantic Technologies, Citations, and some of the Applications-oriented ones.

2021 ESIP Winter Meeting Session Proposal Form
Please fill out the following form to propose a session for the 2021 ESIP Winter Meeting, to be held virtually (January 26th-28th, 2021). Session proposals will be accepted until COB on Thursday November 5th, 2020. Submitted sessions will be reviewed based on the quality and completeness of the proposal, as well as relevance to ESIP areas of interest and to the 2021 year theme (Leading Innovations in Earth Science Data Frontiers). For this reason, please provide as complete a session proposal as you can, including speaker names. Submission of a session proposal does not guarantee that the session will be accepted. If accepted, your responses will also aid in session scheduling, including avoiding session conflicts as much as possible. *Please note*: For this meeting, we are limiting all sessions to 90-minute time blocks. We encourage session leaders to concentrate on designing high-quality 90-minute sessions and and, if desired, to plan subsequent content to be held in a related collaboration area telecon during the month of February.

What should we do next on Usage-based Discovery? Who should we collaborate with over the coming semester? We are soliciting lightning talks that will look at what to focus on going forward. Collaborate with the Semantic Technology Cluster to incorporate ontologies? Work with the Citations cluster to promote dataset identification in/by Applications? We will follow the lightning talks with a discussion period about these possible next steps.

Usage-based Discovery is a brand-new paradigm for discovering Earth Observation data.
