Don't get stuck in a holiday haze!
Register now<http://www.cvent.com/events/hands-on-workshop-near-surface-geophysics-for-hydrology/event-summary-f946e257dce643c38abd8a24080fcdde.aspx> for the Hands-On Workshop: Near-Surface Geophysics for Hydrology
Sponsored by WyCHEG, the University of Arizona, and CUAHSI
January 12-16, 2015
University of Arizona
Tucson, Arizona
Spaces are limited and registration closes December 10, 2014!
Summary:
The Hands-on Workshop on Near-Surface Geophysics for Hydrology will introduce participants to several key methods of near-surface geophysics and their application to hydrology and critical zone processes. Techniques covered will include:
* Seismic refraction
* Ground-penetrating radar
* Electrical resistivity
* Magnetics
* Electromagnetic induction
The course will combine lecture and hands-on instruction with state-of-the-art geophysical equipment and software. Field trips will be taken to collect field data at the Catalina Critical Zone Observatory near Tucson, Arizona; the data collected will then be analyzed during the course. Participants will also travel to the Biosphere2 facility in Oracle, AZ for a lecture and hands-on training.
For additional information and to register, visit the event website<http://www.cvent.com/d/q4q696>.
Graduate students, post-docs, and professionals working in hydrology, geology, ecology and geophysics are invited to participate. No prior experience in geophysics is required.
**CUAHSI has a very limited number of $1,000 student travel grants available to help defray the cost of travel to the workshop. Grants are available on a first come, first served basis. If interested, contact eclark at cuahsi.org<mailto:eclark at cuahsi.org> - don't delay!**
