Uncovering the Power of USGS Flood Inundation Mapper

Athena Clarke - USGS



The FIM Mapper is a tool that allows users to explore the full set of inundation maps, showing where flooding would occur given a selected stream condition. Users can also access historical flood information and potential loss estimates based on the severity of the flood. By using this tool, communities can better visualize potential flooding scenarios, identify areas and resources that may be at risk, and enhance their local response efforts during a flooding event.

As an expert in the field, Athena will discuss the features of the FIM Mapper and how it can be used to aid in local decision-making during flooding events. Her presentation will also cover the benefits of using the FIM Mapper and how it can assist in risk assessment and mitigation planning.
