Dear Cluster/Committee Participants,
This is a reminder that the next meeting of ESIP's EnviroSensing Cluster is on Tuesday February 4th at 5pm ET / 2pm PT.
Below is the link to the ESIP Calendar, where you will find the join info, as well as a link to our running notes document, where an agenda is being drafted.
Meeting Presentation
This session will feature a talk from Chuck Hansen, a Supervisory Hydrologist with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) California Water Science Center. He will present on the development of a low-cost real-time network of near field radiometric sensors for water-quality monitoring.
Hansen’s group has been developing a field deployable low-cost sensor package from scratch that can be used to assess a variety of water quality parameters such as suspended sediments, chlorophyll and dissolved organic matter using above water radiometric spectrometers. They plan to deploy a network of dozens of these units in the coming years, to both improve our ground-based monitoring of water quality capabilities, but also to ground-truth remote sensing satellite observations of these constituents to enable accurate monitoring from space in the future.
