This session will feature a talk from <b>Chuck Hansen</b>, a <b>Supervisory Hydrologist</b> with the
<b>U.S. Geological Survey </b>(USGS) <b>California Water Science Center.</b> He will present on<b> the development of a low-cost real-time network of near field radiometric sensors for water-quality monitoring</b>.</div>

Hansen’s group has been developing a <b>field deployable</b> <b>low-cost sensor package</b> from scratch that can be used to
<b>assess a variety of water quality parameters </b>such as suspended sediments, chlorophyll and dissolved organic matter using above water radiometric spectrometers. They plan to deploy a network of dozens of these units in the coming years, to both
<b>improve our ground-based monitoring of water quality capabilities</b>, but also to
<b>ground-truth remote sensing satellite observations</b> of these constituents to enable accurate monitoring from space in the future.</div>
