Dear IQC Members,
Really apologize that I was not able to make today’s IQC telecon.
As Rama mentioned in both the email and at today’s telecon, I will serve as the chair of IQC starting January 2020. I really appreciate the great efforts and outcomes that Rama, the IQC leadership, and all IQC members have made in the last many years. This will be a challenge for me. But I will try my best to service for this already great platform to continue and expand the discussion surrounding Earth science data and information quality from various aspects and disciplines.
FYI, in this upcoming ESIP winter meeting, the ESIP IQC will host two sessions:
1. Bringing Science Data Uncertainty Down to Earth - Sub-orbital, In Situ, and Beyond: https://2020esipwintermeeting.sched.com/event/XrhN/bringing-science-data-uncertainty-down-to-earth-sub-orbital-in-situ-and-beyond
2. Citizen Science Data and Information Quality: https://2020esipwintermeeting.sched.com/event/XrhT/citizen-science-data-and-information-quality
We will you keep you posted as we finalize the sessions.
Thanks again and Happy Thanksgiving!
Best,
Yaxing Wei

Subject: [EXTERNAL] [Esip-infoquality] IQC Leadership
All,
As I had indicated in the past, I have decided to step aside from being the Chair of the Information Quality Cluster starting in January 2020. I will still be a member of the cluster and follow the activities with interest.
I am pleased to announce that Yaxing Wei (Oak Ridge National Laboratory DAAC) has kindly agreed to serve as the Chair starting in January 2020. Most of you know him. He chaired NASA’s Data Quality Working Group during 2017-2019 and led the group to a successful completion of its 5-year effort that was started under David Moroni’s able leadership. Yaxing brought this work to a conclusion, delivering several recommendations’ documents to the Earth Science Data and Information System (ESDIS) Project. These documents<https://earthdata.nasa.gov/esdis/eso/standards-and-references/recommendations-from-the-data-quality-working-group> not only are valuable to NASA, but also are applicable to a broader community dealing with Earth science data. Yaxing is a recipient of the 2015 Data Stewardship Award<https://www.icsu-wds.org/news/news-archive/yaxing-wei-wins-2015-wds-data-stewardship-award> from the World Data System. I am sure the IQC will benefit greatly under his leadership.
I am also thankful for the great service David Moroni and Ge Peng have provided the IQC as Co-Chairs, and am happy that they will continue to serve in that role. I also would like to thank all the members of the IQC who have been actively participating in the telecons and meetings over the last 5 or so years when I served as the Chair of the cluster. I believe we have earned the respect of our community, thanks to all of your efforts.
Please welcome Yaxing to his new role.
As I said in the beginning, I will be around and attending at least some of the telecons and meetings.
Best wishes,
Rama.
