We are excited to announce that our next meeting will feature an esteemed guest speaker, Dr. Yunyue Elita Li, an Associate Professor of Data Science in the Department of Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences (EAPS) at Purdue University. Dr. Li is a recognized leader in data science with a focus on geophysical imaging and machine learning applications within earth sciences. Her research addresses key challenges in subsurface characterization and seismic imaging, contributing significantly to the field through innovative computational techniques.

Dr. Li will be presenting her latest work, "Machine Learning Developments and Applications in Solid-Earth Geosciences," published in the Journal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth. This paper discusses recent advancements in applying machine learning to solid-earth geoscience, particularly for improving seismic data interpretation and enhancing subsurface imaging accuracy. Her work is paving the way for more precise environmental monitoring and resource exploration. We encourage you to explore this publication, which can be found here:https://agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1029/2022JB026310.

Our agenda for the ESIP Machine Learning Cluster Meeting is:

  *   Guest speaker
  *   Q&A
  *   Anything else?

If you have more things to discuss, please feel free to raise them.

Sincerely,

Jyoshmitha Reddy Paturi,

Research Assistant.
