<div>Hello DMAC Community,<br></div><div><br></div><div>This month's IOOS DMAC Tech webinar on <b>Thursday, January 30th at 3pm EST</b> will feature guest speaker Jerad King from the Gulf of Mexico Coastal Ocean Observing System (GCOOS) for a webinar titled "<i>Erddap2agol: Bridging Data Services and WebGIS for the Next Generation of Marine Science</i>". </div><div><br></div><div>We encourage DMAC representatives from the RAs and the marine data
community to attend this webinar to learn more about GCOOS' development of a robust tool for reliably transferring datasets between ERDDAP<span><span>™</span></span>
services and ArcGIS Online (AGOL). Erddap2agol (<a href="https://github.com/GCOOS/erddap2agol" target="_blank">https://github.com/GCOOS/erddap2agol</a>) is a "hands-off" Python package designed to operate seamlessly within the AGOL environment. Its core functionalities include creating, managing, and updating ERDDAP<span><span>™</span></span>
datasets at various levels of granularity.</div><div><br></div><div><b>Abstract:</b></div><div>ERDDAP<span><span>™</span></span>
is a powerful platform that serves an important role in hosting and distributing quality metrological and oceanographic data to users. Using ERDDAP<span><span>™</span></span>
can be challenging for new users, however, due to a cumbersome user interface that can only be circumvented with RESTful web services. Additionally, ERDDAP<span><span>™</span></span>
lacks native integration with contemporary GIS platforms. In contrast, ArcGIS online provides a user-friendly experience to not only access and store data but perform analysis with a host of services. Finding quality data on ArcGIS Online can be challenging, however, as the technical barrier to publishing data is comparatively lower than ERDDAP<span><span>™</span></span>
. </div><div><br></div><div>We seek to rectify this problem with the development of <a href="https://github.com/GCOOS/erddap2agol" target="_blank">erddap2agol</a>, a python-based data service for creating, managing, and updating ERDDAP<span><span>™</span></span>
data on ArcGIS Online. This session will demonstrate the simple process of using erddap2agol to create real-time datasets from live ERDDAP<span><span>™</span></span>
services, and how to leverage visualization tools in the ArcGIS Online ecosystem for analysis.</div><div><br></div><div><b>Please note, we have moved our meeting platform to Webex.</b> Please see the new connection information below.<br></div><div><br></div><div><b>Connection Information:</b></div><div>Monthly DMAC Tech Webinar Series<br>Thursday, January 30 · 3:00 – 4:20pm<br>Time zone: America/New_York</div><div><br></div><div>
