Dear cluster participants,

This is a reminder that we will be hosting the "Sparking Conversations & Retrospection: Exploring Open Science Practices" workshop tomorrow, Wednesday July 24, from 2:00pm - 3:30pm EDT, and greatly look forward to engaging with you.

This workshop was developed based on your responses to the Open Science opinion survey and its output will inform a community paper submission/abstract submission for AGU. The full description is copied below.

Best,

Sparking Conversations & Retrospection: Exploring Open Science Practices
Open science is a growing movement that aims to make scientific research more accessible, transparent, and collaborative. Join us for an interactive and collaborative workshop aimed at fostering discussions and retrospection on various aspects of open science. Based on the Open Science Cluster's recent survey, we have identified topics that open science enthusiasts within ESIP are interested in exploring. This workshop will build upon previous outputs, such as the mind map, and aims to incorporate the results into a community paper for publication. The workshop will be divided into different working groups, each focusing on a specific stage of the data life cycle. Participants will have the opportunity to delve into topics such as project planning/data generation, data storage, metadata, and dissemination. Within each stage, we will explore themes including barriers and challenges, mechanisms for incentives, "good enough" practices, and the impacts of open science efforts. Facilitators will provide prompts and guiding questions to stimulate discussions within the groups. We encourage all workshop participants to collaborate and work together towards the planned outputs after the session. The workshop will conclude with a discussion on the next steps and a thank you to all participants. By joining this workshop, you will have the chance to contribute to the advancement of open science practices and explore innovative ideas within the ESIP community. We look forward to your active participation and valuable insights.
