A couple suggestions for budget requests:

- Author charges for submitting to open access journals (e.g., Data Science Journal)
- A stipend or two to support travel to RDA in Tokyo

cheers,

Justin,

Could you provide a copy of our budget request, and what was approved, from last year, that might help guide us in making any suggestions? Thanks!

Denise

Hi everyone,
As AGU approaches, I just wanted to call our committee's attention to the following opportunities:

1) As budgetary requests for ESIP committees are welcome until December 14, please send requests to Sophie and me by December 13 so that our group can make this deadline. Those interested in submitting requests should first peruse the material available here<http://wiki.esipfed.org/index.php/Federation_Documents#Budget_Requests> a<http://wiki.esipfed.org/index.php/Federation_Documents#Budget_Requests>nd consult the three documents linked to at the end of the page. Please note that all budget requests should be clearly linked to goals outlined in the ESIP 2015-2020 Strategic Plan.<http://wiki.esipfed.org/index.php/2015-2020_Strategic_Plan> Please contact Erin or Finance Committee chair Bill Teng<mailto:william.l.teng at nasa.gov> with any questions about the budget request process.

2) The GEO Secretariat requests feedback on the Guidelines for Implementation of the GEO Data Management Principles document that was created by a GEO task team which included several members of our committee. Feedback may be provided in the form of a survey, accessible at:
http://www.earthobservations.org/survey_dmp_ig.

Links to the Data Management Principles document and the Implementation Guidelines may be found at:
https://www.earthobservations.org/dswg.php.

The survey link will be available until 15th March 2016.

3) As mentioned during our most recent ESIP Data Stewardship call<http://wiki.esipfed.org/index.php/Interagency_Data_Stewardship/LifeCycle/Preservation_Forum/TeleconNotes/2015-11-16meetingnotes>, our group is providing comment on two new RDA recommendations<https://rd-alliance.org/two-new-rda-recommendations-open-comment.html>. I ask those interested in commenting to do so over the esip-preserve listserve. As I'd like to send a committee-sanctioned response during AGU week, I'll assume that any absence of comments implies formal support of the recommendations.

That's it.

Best, safe travels to and from AGU, and Happy Holidays.

Justin
