Dear ESIP attendees,
Data Conservancy and Johns Hopkins University Data Management Services are
looking for your help! At the ESIP 2017 summer meeting we are partnering
with the ESIP Usability Cluster to conduct a study of RMap
<http://rmap-project.info/rmap/?page_id=98> and its forthcoming integration
with the Open Science Framework (OSF) <https://osf.io/> user interface. We
hope to better understand how researchers will interact with the proposed
integration and how we can facilitate the best experience possible with
RMap.
RMap supports the capture and preservation of the map of relationships
among distributed scholarly works of all types and stores this map as
linked data. OSF is an open source web-based platform for researchers to
manage and share scholarly work. Work on integrating features of RMap into
the OSF user interface will begin this fall. Your feedback will be
important to ensure the features we provide are easy to use and meaningful
to you.
During the meeting we will have a space set aside in the conference center
to test the proposed RMap-OSF features. During a 15-20 minute session we
will ask you to complete several tasks using interactive mockups and to
provide feedback about your experience. We will be available during breaks
on each day of the meeting from Tuesday July 25th - Friday July 28th.
If you are interested in participating in a testing session (anyone can
sign up and no prior experience is needed), there will be a sign-up sheet
at the registration desk or you can sign up for a time here
<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1OAXaJ0F86HjyBnQ9iJWHrkPrOUFys4aV1juVdepj7Po/edit?usp=sharing>
prior
to the ESIP meeting.
We will also have a breakout session on Wednesday the 26th at 4pm
<http://sched.co/As6Q> where you can hear more about the integration and
provide feedback to the team. Please feel free to get in touch with us for
more information: Karen Hanson karen.hanson at jhu.edu or Reid Boehm
rboehm at jhu.edu.
We look forward to speaking with you!
Sincerely,
The RMap team
*Thanks!*
