Sorry, folks, for all of the emails.
Due to technical difficulties and scheduling conflicts, Beth's talk will be re-scheduled.
It will most probably occur on Tuesday, June 4, at the usual time of 4 PM ET.
Enjoy your unexpectedly free hour.

Subject: [esdswg-semantics] Next telecon for 2013 ESDSWG Working Group - Publishing NASA Metadata for Semantic Mashups (April 23, 4 PM ET)
Hi Folks,
The next telecon for the Semantic Mashups ESDS Working Group will be tomorrow,
Tuesday, May 21 at 4 PM EST.
Beth Huffer will give a presentation on:
"ODISEES: An Ontology Driven Interactive Search Environment for Earth Sciences".
Realizing maximum value from NASA’s vast array of data and climate model products depends on maximizing access to these products by the widest possible segment of the Earth Science community, and ensuring that the data are well understood and used correctly in research. Prospective users of NASA’s products currently face two significant challenges: 1) discovering, among the many choices available, those products that are most suited to their particular research requirements; and 2) understanding the context in which those products were created and how the data or model outputs contained in them should be interpreted.
ODISEES, a data exploration tool being implemented at NASA Langley’s Atmospheric Science Data Center, seeks to address these challenges with a search tool that lets data consumers find and compare variables by specifying the parameters and the essential characteristics of the parameters that best match their research interests. Our parameter-based search tool is supported by a high-precision Earth Science ontology. Parameters, data sets, and data variables, and the relationships among them, are modeled in detail. The user interface lets users specify the parameters that satisfy their research requirements. A query service generates SPARQL queries that search the knowledge base for data variables that realize the specified characteristics.
Afterwards, we will quickly discuss a few more items.
Agenda:
- ODISEES presentation by Beth
- Work on the "Best Practices" document
- Other demos being developed
- Volunteer presentation for next month
The charter for the WG is at:
https://earthdata.nasa.gov/wiki/main/index.php/Publishing_NASA_Metadata_for_Semantic_Mashups
We will be sharing a desktop via MeetingPlace for the presentation.
Talk to you then,
-- Brian

Subject: 2013 ESDSWG Working Groups - Publishing NASA Metadata for Semantic Mashup
Brian,
Below is the list of people who have expressed interest in this working group. Also attached is copy of the sign-up sheets from the ESDSWG meeting.
I suggest that you make initial contact the people who had shown an interest in actively participating in this group (leader or contributor) and confirm that they are still interested. You should also take a look at the people who added their names to the old wiki - some of these were unable to attend the meeting and may be interested in getting actively involved. Your objective should be to identify the small group of people who are willing to commit to actively contributing to this activity. All of the WGs have a long list of people who are interested as 'observers' but we can deal with these later. Let's try to identify the people who will actually be contributing to this group first.
