Greetings all!
I wanted to draw your attention (again) to the recording of Megan Wong’s presentation August 8th on the Australian National Standard vocabularies: https://youtu.be/lxvZ6_YDgZQ with additional resources here: https://github.com/ANZSoilData/def-au-domain and search “soil science” here https://vocabs.ardc.edu.au/
We had an excellent paper dropped in at our last call on carbon sequestration via weathering - Deng, H., Sonnenthal, E., Arora, B. et al. The environmental controls on efficiency of enhanced rock weathering in soils. Sci Rep 13, 9765 (2023). https://doi.org/10.1038/s41598-023-36113-4
The OGC has an ongoing repository for Geotechnical Engineering case studies https://github.com/opengeospatial/Geotech and https://www.ogc.org/initiatives/geotech-ie/
For those who don’t know, fall is my teaching heavy semester. I’ve decided to drop down the SOI Cluster call frequency to once a month (3rd Tuesday) at 1600 US-Eastern. If you would like a calendar invite, shot me an email and I’ll forward one to you. We are going to continue to focus on the manuscript describing the geolocation and soil organic carbon profile data with existing vocabularies and proposing hierarchies for associated methods. In addition I would like to extend an invitation to you to attend my lab’s SOC-DRaH meeting (Thursday 1600 US-Eastern) where we are linking together soil profile data from ISCN, Forest Service FIA and a peat core synthesis; this meeting focuses on workflow development and data annotations.
See you in a few weeks!
-Kathe
