Nancy, I made a note but remind me when you see me next week. We'll find a
room for you and get a WebEx set up.

Okay, great! Haven't heard from Peter, but hopefully, he can join us at
this time too. Sounds like it will be a good time for remote participants
as well. Glad you can join us, Steve. Erin, would Dan be able to set up
the webex information then and then either he or I can send out to the whole
esip-sustainabledm list. We'll need room too, yes? The amount of time
would probably be about an hour 15 minutes or just an hour, yes? Might take
us a few minutes to get to the room from the previous session, so whatever
you suggest there in terms of time between. I look forward to the
discussions!
Happy New Year to all!
Regards,
Nancy

That certainly would work better for me (and I¹m willing to skip that

Hi, all:
Seems that the 2:30 pm timeframe on Friday is not good for Ruth whose
flight home leaves at 6 pm. As an alternative, there appears to be
an opening at lunchtime on Friday with boxed lunches available. We
could take our lunches and retire to a room that might have webex
which would also probably be easier as the ESIP support folks were
going to have difficulty arranging a webex at 2:30 pm anyway. Will
that work for folks?

Hi Peter,

Glad to hear from you. Latest word is that our ROI BOF is at 2:30 on
Friday, 1/8, not the 3:30 hour I mentioned before. (Nancy, please
correct
me if that's wrong.) We'd love to see you there.

Hi Peter,

I just wanted to make sure you knew that our ESIP Sustainable Data
Management cluster now exists and has an email list:

http://lists.esipfed.org/mailman/listinfo/esip-sustainableDM

and a wiki:

http://wiki.esipfed.org/index.php/Sustainable_Data_Management.

Also, FYI, regarding the ROI topic, we seem to be converging on a
BOF at the ESIP meeting on Friday, 1/8, at 3:30, though I'm not
positive I have
the latest word on that. I will let you know if that changes. Please
join us if you can, we would love to have your input. It will be at
the Wardman Park Marriott:

Sincerely,

Anne

Hi Peter,

It was great to meet you in Phoenix at the workshop, Collaborative
Strategies for Sustained Environmental Data Management.

And thank you for joining our breakout on methods for determining
the ROI of data centers that Wednesday afternoon. As you know, we
met further Thursday morning and identified some action items. We
have already moved forward on forming an ESIP cluster around the
topic and plan to gather at the Winter meeting in January to
discuss moving forward.

I'm now executing another action item - I'm write to you now to
follow up with you to see if you had any thought or advice on
using an EAGER grant to plan the scope, methods, and coverage of a
project comparable to what JISC did
(http://repository.jisc.ac.uk/5568/1/iDF308_-_Digital_Infrastructu

Direct
ions_Report,_Jan14_v1-04.pdf).

In reading the EAGER description, it seems like this idea is
appropriate
- what do you think? Or can you suggest some other mechanism to
fund this planning stage?

Are you by chance interested and available to attend any of the ESIP
meeting? The meeting is in DC, January 6 - 8. Here's the schedule:

In particular, if this 'ROI for data centers' topic interests
you, we
would be happy to have you join us when we gather. Please let me
know if
you're interested in joining us.

We appreciate hearing any thoughts or comments you might have
about moving this forward.

Thank you, Peter!

Sincerely,

Anne
