Hello Everyone,

Thank you to everyone who joined our monthly call
<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1xGYLWdtCYDz_KJ4JOeU1w0_gvjdAKCOLPT83h4yPmTU/edit?usp=sharing>
this week.  See summary below.

*Journal Guidance Action items*
During the meeting we made some good progress with the Journal Guidelines -
"Physical Samples and Sample Related Data Sharing Guidance for Authors
<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1JnoWC9IE9r4LIa6mYeCjehuMJ6GARU3LDobpau9waz4/edit?usp=sharing>".
We will be using the AGU example as our new template. We spent the
majority of the meeting going through the headings and determining what to
keep, what to change, etc. *Our action items for the next meeting are to
continue making suggestions at a high level* (what content can be cut, what
is missing?, etc.) and then we will start digging into the content/text at
the next meeting (drawing from our existing resources, see list below).

*Session proposal update*
We are submitting a proposal
<https://docs.google.com/document/d/17pb7ZaGEn3HKBJtIZ01lJ6LPNOydsa8Luq4KpXr2_hg/edit?usp=sharing>
to the ESIP January meeting (due November 8th). The primary focus will be
working on the Journal Guidance doc (above). We will also dedicate time to
discussing the outcomes of the upcoming RDA session on using related
identifiers to connect samples and data.

In addition, today we were asked to share a brief introduction on this
cluster to the TDWG
<https://www.tdwg.org/conferences/2021/working-sessions/> Earth Sciences
and Paleobiology Interest Group at the TDWG working sessions next month
(registration is free). We have invited them to do the same and provide a
brief introduction at our January ESIP meeting session.

*Dates for future calls*

   - Our next meeting is scheduled for November 23rd at 5pm ET. This is a
   holiday week in the US. Unless there are any objections, we will keep the
   scheduled time.
   - We are canceling the December meeting
   - The ESIP January meeting will take place from the 17th to the 22nd.
   We propose moving our January meeting from the 25th to January 11th in
   order to prepare for our session. *Are there any objections?*

Thanks!
Sarah
