[Bessig] Google Plus / Google Drive for BESSIG?

Hi all,
Unfortunately, I was not able to attend yesterday's presentation.
It sounds as if using 'social media' was a conclusion of the presentation.

While I think that's a great goal, I'm also reluctant to reveal everything to
the media outlets, Google, Facebook, etc. because I'm not interested in their
providing information for their "targeted" advertising goals. IMHO, 'Social
media' outlets are accumulating far too much information about individuals and
I feel we should not be willing to give up private information so easily.

Privacy is a critical issue for me. Yes, I am sure Google protects their users
as well as they can from unintentional intrusion, but who protects us from
Google, or, in the future, what Google decides to do with the accumulation of
data we 'willingly' disclose?

Because I do not have a 'business' internet identity, I'm reluctant to use
Google's suite of tools and media outlets, (gmail, google+, google drive,
etc.) freely.
While Google's tool set is impressive, I must remember that these are used as
vehicles to acquire information about their users (me), so I use these tools
very sparingly.

Please consider the secondary use of the resources available through 'social
media' outlets before adopting them.

Just my opinion,
Scott O'Donnell
