[Bessig] Google Plus / Google Drive for BESSIG?

Not to dig at Scott. He wasn't there. But do not let it be said that any conclusion of my presentation was to use social media. I said foster relationships, and I said relationships are local, but reach global. I don't believe I ever even mentioned social media beyond the RDA twitter handle on the last slide.
That said, social media can be engaging. People will always have their legitimate concerns, so you won't get everyone, but it can spark connection and even conversation. The big issue is generating content, so multiple people need to contribute. Recognize also that different platforms serve different audiences and content better. I don't see any point in trying to do more than a couple platforms. I would have thought Google+ would be a good one for this group, but the NOAA issue is a problem.
Online identity management might be a good BESSIG topic.
Along those lines, I agree with Anne's basic goal of share information and find cool topics to discuss. It would be really cool if we could move it toward actual collaborative work, but we can't force that.
